EXCLUSIVE: Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey) has closed a deal to join Lily James, Jack Reynor and Ron Perlman in the new horror film Seasons from Amazon MGM Studios.
Marking the sophomore feature of Companion‘s Drew Hancock, Seasons follows a husband and wife who buy their dream ranch, only to discover the land is alive with ancient spirits. For the couple, survival will mean submitting to increasingly disturbing rituals with each turn of the season.
Hancock’s script is based on a viral horror short story by Matt & Harrison Query that first appeared on Reddit and later was adapted into a full-length novel.
21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Levine are producing alongside Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Michael Clear, 12:01 Films’ Scott Glassgold and Dan Cohen. Judson Scott is executive producing for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing for the company.
Best known today for her role as Lady Cora in the ITV drama Downton Abbey and the feature follow-ups released between 2019 and 2025, McGovern was Oscar- and Golden Globe-nominated for her role in Ragtime, the 1981 historical drama from Miloš Forman. She is repped by UTA and Tavistock Wood Management.
