EXCLUSIVE: Hope In The Water, an environmental docuseries featuring the likes of Shailene Woodley, is returning for a second season at PBS.
The public broadcaster has renewed the three-part series after its premiere in 2024. It comes from David E. Kelley, who is an executive advisor, and celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern.
Paradise star Woodley appeared in the first season and will return for the second season alongside Top Chef host Kristen Kish and Zimmern.
Hope In The Water follows the people on the front lines of one of the most urgent challenges of our time: feeding a planet of over 8 billion people while supporting the freshwater systems and oceans that make life possible, per the logline.
Hope In The Water marked Margo’s Got Money Troubles creator Kelley’s first move into the documentary space. It comes after he bought a fish farm a few years ago that raises steelhead trout.
It is produced by Zimmern’s Intuitive Content, which is behind series such as Magnolia’s Family Dinner and ZoëBakes. Patrick Weiland exec produces with Michele Wallin as showrunner. Patrick McMahill directs.
The series is produced in association with nonprofit Fed By Blue, which campaigns to help protect and participate in a responsible fishing. Funding was provided by the Builders Vision and the Walton Family Foundation
