EXCLUSIVE: Michelle MacLaren (The Morning Show, Breaking Bad) will direct the first two episodes and serve as executive producer on Disavowed, a new, action-packed thriller created by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Uncharted) for Apple TV. She executive produces alongside Rebecca Hobbs via her overall deal with the streamer.

Disavowed follows legendary CIA Case Officer Brad Griffin (James Marsden), who is abruptly fired in the middle of a global hunt for an elusive assassin responsible for killing his colleague. Disgraced and outcast from the world of intelligence, all bets are off when Brad decides to go after the 15 million dollar federal bounty on the assassin’s head.

The series is executive produced by Marcum & Holloway, Tom Spezialy, MacLaren, Hobbs, and Marsden. Blue Marble Pictures produces, with Theresa Kang and Caroline Garity serving as executive producers. Blue Marble is the company behind Apple’s critically acclaimed series Pachinko.

MacLaren is a two-time shared Emmy Award-winner with two individual nominations for directing who’s been at the helm, as executive producer and director, of some of television’s most original and popular series. She made her debut in the director’s chair on The X-Files, an episode entitled “John Doe” written by Vince Gilligan.

She reunited with Gilligan as executive producer and director of his landmark AMC series, Breaking Bad. Additionally, MacLaren has received critical acclaim for her work on HBO’s Game of Thrones, Westworld, In Treatment, The Deuce, and The Leftovers, as well as AMC’s The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, and Apple TV’s The Morning Show, Shining Girls, and Constellation. MacLaren and Hobbs are represented by CAA and Goodman Genow Schenkman.
