The details of Maggie Smith‘s will have been revealed.
The late actress, known for roles like Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter franchise, Violet Crawley in Downton Abbey, and her Oscar-winning turns in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and California Suite, passed away in 2024 at the age of 89.
The details of her will have just recently been made public.
Her two sons, Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens, inherited an estate worth £15,977,325 (roughly $21 million), according to probate records acquired by E! News. The number came after subtracting debts and expenses totaling £25,000 ($33,985) from the estate.
Her estate includes Douglas Lake Farm, described as “a rural compound boasting barns, a stable, a vineyard and a five-bedroom house” by the outlet. She lived there for four decades to raise her kids with ex-husband Robert Stephens.
The will was created in September of 1998, just before the death of then-husband Beverley Cross. She and Robert were married from 1967 to 1975. She married Beverley in 1975.
The will also said that “any copyright, royalties and unpublished works she inherited would be shared out separately, with proceeds split equally between her two children as well as Cross‘ daughter Philippa Maughan and son Shaun Cross,” via E!.
