As Jason Momoa makes his DC onscreen return with a new role in Supergirl, he recently noted what it would take for Lobo to go solo in his own movie.
Revealing that he’s had discussions with DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran about the possibility of an R-rated Lobo movie, Momoa insisted he’s “not doing it” if the offshoot is PG-13.
“It’s all I want, and I promise — I’m just going to put this out there right now — I do not have any interest in making a Lobo PG-13 movie,” Momoa told Collider. “So, will [Lobo] be a part of some other movies? If they want me, I’ll be there. But if I make a solo movie, I’m not doing it unless it’s rated R.”
Premiering June 26 in theaters and Imax, Supergirl sees Milly Alcock reprise her role as the titular superhero alter ego, Kara Zor-El, who celebrates her 23rd birthday while traveling across the galaxy with her dog Krypto.
Based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Bilquis Evely illustrated, Ana Nogueira adapted the comic book for the big screen. In the comic, Supergirl and young alien girl Knolle hunt down Krem of the Yellow Hill after he kills Knolle’s father in cold blood.
In addition to Momoa as the antihero Lobo, an alien mercenary and bounty hunter from the utopian planet Czarnia, the movie also stars Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle and Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem.
