Now that Sister Wives' Kody Brown has officially completed his season 20 apology tour, his ex Janelle Brown has a little something she'd like to get off her chest.
"I feel like the apology tour was, in the end, something he was trying to redeem himself with," the patriarch's former bride posited in the opening minutes of the TLC series' season 21 opener Oct. 4. "And I don't think it was necessarily that sincere, because there's been no contact since."
Before Kody and sole remaining wife Robyn Brown officially exited the series that first premiered in 2010, "He very publicly torpedoed my character," added Janelle. "So, f--k him."
To the mom of six, the most annoying part wasn't that Kody insisted she concocted a "backdoor deal" to keep his first wife Meri Brown from pocketing her share of last year's sale of their Coyote Pass property in Arizona, but rather that Meri "believed him," she explained to former sister wife Christine Brown during the episode. "Or, sort of believed him."
To be clear, continued Janelle, who's since settled in North Carolina near eldest daughter Madison Brush, "It was not true."
For starters, she noted, "Trust me, if I had been scheming, you would not have known it."
Kody, meanwhile, had been clear about his agenda, Janelle insisted.
"Kody even publicly said, he went to his lawyer," she detailed, "and his lawyer said, 'You could sell it. You don't have to give them anything. Your name on the title is really what matters. It doesn't really matter what the agreements were.'"
She explained as much in a sit-down with Meri, explaining the kernel of truth in Kody's story.
"He had all these things about well, 'Maybe I’ll just sell and I’ll hold some money in reserve for Meri so that when she basically does what I want her to do, I’ll give her the money,'" she detailed. "There was so much on his part of threatening and saying, 'Well, you guys are really only due a certain amount, certain amount, certain amount.'"
As for her contribution, she continued, "The only conversation we ever had was just back and forth, like, me saying, 'Let’s get this going.'"
And now that Kody and Robyn are gone, Janelle is left with what she's dubbed his "parting gift."
Having accepted his perhaps-not-so-genuine apology, his accusation "felt very personal, like a final F-U as he was leaving or whatever," she said. "And, it would be one thing if he just said it, but everybody's believing him and Meri's even like, 'I don't know.'"
