EXCLUSIVE: Black Label Media has added four to the cast of its thriller Copperhead starring Miles Teller: Jason Momoa, Tenoch Huerta, Adria Arjona and Kiefer Sutherland.

Character details are being kept under wraps. The casting news comes ahead of this year’s Toronto Film Festival, where Black Bear is launching sales.

In Copperhead, when an undercover drug deal explodes into violence, a veteran detective is forced to team with a young federal agent to unravel the conspiracy within their elite task force.

Venice prize-winner John Swab is set to direct from a script by Chad Feehan and J. Todd Scott, with production kicking off in September. The project is financed by Black Label Media, which is producing alongside Teller’s Lime Tree Productions and Swab’s Milk Boy. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are co-repping domestic rights.

Coming off of Supergirl, where he plays the bounty hunter Lobo, Momoa has also recently been seen starring opposite Dave Bautista in the Amazon MGM action-comedy The Wrecking Crew, which was the fourth most-viewed film across all streaming platforms between December and June of this year, per Nielsen data. Next be seen in films including Street Fighter, Dune: Part Three, A Minecraft Movie: Squared and Fast Forever, Momoa is repped by WME and Edelstein Laird and Sobel.

Huerta is known for his role of Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which he’s set to reprise in the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Upcoming, he’ll also be seen starring opposite Taylor Kitsch in the hostage thriller Eleven Days from Peter Landesman. He is repped by WME.

Coming off of Disney+’s Andor and the acclaimed Neon comedy Splitsville, Arjona will next be seen starring in A24’s Onslaught, out September 4, and Michael B. Jordan’s The Thomas Crown Affair, which Amazon MGM releases this coming March. Other projects on her slate include the Amazon series Criminal, Sarah-Violet Bliss’ erotic thriller Scorn and James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow. She is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.

Best known for starring as CTU agent Jack Bauer in Fox’s 24, Sutherland was recently seen in Clint Eastwood’s Warner Bros. legal thriller Juror #2. Upcoming projects include Luc Besson’s Father Joe opposite Al Pacino, which is slated for a Venice world premiere, and The Horseman opposite Barry Pepper and C. Thomas Howell. He is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360 and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols.
