Apple is reportedly planning to reveal a new array of products this September, including a potentially game-changing version of the iPhone.
What We Know About Apple’s Foldable iPhone
Amid leaks and rumors suggesting a foldable model is in the works, Bloomberg just published a new report about what will allegedly be unveiled at the company’s September 2026 event, including the foldable iPhone.
“From what I’ve heard, the company believes strongly in the foldable category and is already planning a second-generation model for 2027. That will be followed by a third version as early as 2028, with slightly larger displays on both the inside and outside,” Mark Gurman reported in his Power On newsletter.
The rumored foldable iPhone will reportedly open up like a book.
From MacRumors:
Apple decided on a book-style foldable design that’s wider than it is tall, which will make it unique among foldable smartphones. Most foldable smartphones are taller than they are wide, but the foldable iPhone is rumored to have a 4:3 aspect ratio like an iPad. Apple designed the foldable iPhone to have the same feel as an iPad, and when unfolded, it will have an OLED display that’s close to the size of an iPad mini.
It will look like a hybrid between an iPhone and an iPad, with iPad-like functionality and some iPad-like interface options when unfolded. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says it will be the “most significant overhaul in the iPhone’s history.”
When Is Apple’s September Event?
The Bloomberg writer reports that Wednesday, September 9 is the “most likely” date of the upcoming launch event.
What Products Are Reportedly Being Announced?
The products set to be unveiled are: the foldable iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, along with the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, a new Apple TV set-top box and HomePod mini, and possibly Apple’s first smart home hub.
Apple Watch Series 12 & Ultra 4 Rumors
As far as the Apple Watch, the upcoming Series 12 and Ultra 4 are set to get “their first real boost in performance in years” as the company looks to reinvent the product in upcoming years, as well as a reported return of a ceramic case option “either this year or next,” plus new colors, bands and health and fitness upgrades.
How much will the iPhone 18 cost?
One of the biggest rumored changes is price: according to reports, rising memory costs due to the AI industry might cause the prices to jump across the lineup of new models, with some estimates suggesting the iPhone 18 Pro could start around $1,299 in the U.S. (Note: Apple has not confirmed pricing.)
While the overall design is expected to look familiar, several upgrades have reportedly leaked, including a potentially smaller camera bump and a slimmer Dynamic Island.
Inside, Apple is expected to boost performance with new A20 chips and increase the base model’s memory to 12GB of RAM, matching the Pro models. There’s also rumors of improved cellular connectivity with a new C2 modem, upgraded Wi-Fi hardware and expanded satellite capabilities with 5G, per reports.
What features will the iPhone 18 have?
The camera could get one of the biggest upgrades, with reports claiming the iPhone 18 Pro may include a variable aperture camera system, which lets you adjust how much light reaches the sensor, resulting in sharper photos and more natural portrait shots, via Bloomberg.
Battery capacity is also rumored to be improved on the Pro models, with a bigger battery boost on the Pro Max.
The phones are expected to ship with iOS 27, and upgraded Siri powered by Apple Intelligence, which will be more capable of understanding a user’s screen and completing tasks.
What colors will the iPhone 18 come in?
The rumored 18 Pro colors include Dark Gray, Silver, Light Blue and Dark Cherry, though none of this has been confirmed by the company yet.
