In a Cosmopolitan cover story published Monday (Aug. 3), JENNIE revealed that Ri is her North Star when it comes to icons she hopes to emulate in her own career. “Rihanna will always be my biggest dream in terms of how much influence she has over pop culture and also music culture and art itself,” the K-pop star told the publication.

“She’s so inspiring for me,” she continued. “To find that for myself would be a dream.”

The Fenty mogul — who has a lot of aspirational accomplishments under her belt, including 14 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 — is just one of several ladies JENNIE shouted out for Cosmo, which unveiled six different versions of her cover with different color-corresponding photos for each. In an accompanying episode of “Blind Date” on the magazine’s YouTube channel, she raved about “ExtraL” collaborator Doechii as well as fellow Chanel ambassador Gracie Abrams.

“I love Doechii,” JENNIE said. “She’s just like a walking inspiration for me. Anything that she does is so creative, and I can already tell that she puts so much time and her vision in it … I was immediately drawn to all her videos and all her music from the beginning. So, I just knew deep down, like, I wanted to collaborate with her. With the song ‘ExtraL,’ that’s what I was searching for: a strong, feminine energy that I could have fun with. Who else better than Doechii?”

The interview comes about four months after Abrams penned a tribute to the South Korean performer for this year’s TIME100, about which JENNIE said, “I didn’t know she was writing this piece about me, so when I saw it, I was in literal tears, and I was actually screaming a little bit too.”

“It was just the sweetest thing that anyone could’ve done, and Gracie’s such a sweetheart,” she added. ‘I’m such a big fan of her music and her as an artist. So to be able to share this generation together, so closely, I think I’m just very lucky.”

JENNIE is fresh off the release of new solo single “Less Than a Lover,” which dropped July 24. She’s spent the summer performing separate from her BLACKPINK bandmates at festivals including Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Governor’s Ball in New York City, following the girl group’s DEADLINE World Tour last year.

As for the concert she’s excited to attend as a fan, JENNIE told Cosmo, “I am at Rosalía’s concert screaming, front row.”

“I can’t wait to go watch her Lux Tour, seems amazing,” she added, noting she “picked up Spanish” in order to sing the Spanish star’s song “La Perla.” “It’s my goal to, like, sing the whole thing without looking at the lyrics.”
