Steve Lacy is vaulting up the charts.
“oh yeah?” is the 28-year-old singer-songwriter’s title track and lead song from his newly released third studio album, and it also happens to be the track you hear during the end credits of the box office-breaking Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“Life’s a bitch / And then you live again / Tragedies and wins / Breakups with your friends / Memories of home / Feels like life is moving on / I don’t wanna lose again / Please, I beg / Could my hope be of value?” he declares on the song.
The song just debuted at No. 54 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100!
“oh yeah? title track is featured in the spider-man @destindaniel is the 1 im so grateful for this man and his creative and humane spirit,” he said on Instagram, shouting out the movie’s director for its inclusion.
What is “oh yeah?” about?
“The question’s important,” he simply said of the title’s meaning in an interview with Rolling Stone.
“I remember I was playing the songs for the label a couple of months ago. They were like, ‘All right, now play some happier ones.’ And I was like, ‘F–k.,'” he added of the album’s melancholy themes.
