After nearly 30 years together, Slipknot have parted ways with keyboardist and DJ Sid Wilson.

Despite Wilson recently introducing himself as a current member, the metal band officially confirmed news on Friday (August 14) following weeks of speculation about Wilson’s status in the group. The statement remains posted on the official Instagram account for Knotfest, the festival created by the band in 2012.

“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” the post read. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Wilson was known as No. 0 and served as their keyboardist and turntablist, joining them in 1998, just before the Iowa-founded group had their mainstream breakthrough with their self-titled debut.

His departure is one of many the band have seen in recent years. In 2019, Slipknot announced they were parting ways with Chris Fehn amid the longtime percussionist’s lawsuit against the band, after he alleged that he had not been properly paid for over twenty years of recording with them.

A few years later, Craig Jones, who had joined them in 1996, also left the band in 2023. Later that year, Slipknot split with drummer Jay Weinberg over what they called a “creative decision”.

A TMZ report in late July claimed that Wilson’s exit would mark the latest line-up change. At the time, there had been no word on what led to the alleged split, but the band’s guitarist, Jim Root, took to social media after news broke to urge fans to wait for more information.

In a message shared to his Instagram Story, he said: “Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile.”

Friday’s statement arrives exactly two weeks later, marking the first official word from Slipknot on Wilson, who also reportedly broke off his engagement to Kelly Osbourne in March.

She recently took to social media to hit out at her ex-fiancĂ© Wilson, posting and later deleting a series of messages on Instagram seemingly calling out the musician – without naming him – demanding child support for their three-year-old son and opening up about the difficulties of co-parenting.

“Wake the fuck up take some responsibility I will not take your shit anymore! I’m done,” she wrote. “I want to be happy and I have a beautiful son to raise. Leave me alone. Let me heal. I can’t protect you from yourself anymore. Also while I’m at it can I have my dogs back and all my possessions. Oh yeah and maybe some child support?”

The couple started dating in 2022 and welcomed their son Sidney later that year, before they got engaged in July 2025 backstage at Black Sabbath’s final show ever at the massive Back To The Beginning concert in Birmingham.

They reportedly called off the engagement seven months later in March 2026, according to People.

The band’s last album ‘The End, So Far’ arrived in 2022 – since then, they’ve been joined by new drummer Eloy Casagrande and have toured in support of their self-titled debut album’s 25th anniversary. Speaking to NME in December last year, Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan said that their long-lost record ‘Look Outside Your Window’ was out of his hands and with management for the final steps.

As for Wilson, last year he launched his own label, Vomit Face Records, the home to a diverse array of artists, including Wilson himself, J57, DEAD X HEDS, Rome Fortune, Ricardo Grimm and Mars Black.

At the time, he described venture as being about “tearing down the walls”, adding: “This is for the artists who don’t fit in and never wanted to. It’s rebels in motion that unapologetically stand out. It’s to celebrate imperfection, people making real art out of the mess in a world that rewards fake.”
