Belmont Cameli is dishing on Off Campus in a new interview!

The 28-year-old actor plays college hockey player Garrett Graham in the hit Prime Video series adaptation, and he’s returning for the upcoming second season.

Belmont appears on the latest episode of Therapuss with host Jake Shane, and dished about how far along they are in filming season two, his audition process, and even talking to Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams.

When asked if he’s talked to anyone from the other hit hockey show, Heated Rivalry, Belmont shared, “Hudson [Williams] and I have, correspondence. Well, we both use Aika Flores. Who’s our groomer. Who are our hair and face.”

If you don’t know, Aika also works with Every Year After star Matt Cornett, Hacks star Paul W Downs and singer Alex Warren. She’s also worked with Nick and Joe Jonas, Harry Melling, Aryan Simhadri, Lee Pace, Josh Hutcherson, and more!

Belmont talks about auditioning for Off Campus

It was different for, I think all of us kind of had a different experience doing it. I, I didn’t audition as Garrett until the very last day of auditions. I had met with our showrunners, Louisa [Levy] and Gina [Fattore]. We zoomed, and they kind of pitched me the season one arc and the character, we I had questions for them about their project, and we talked about it. And so then they did a chemistry read where there were 28 actors. They cast all 6 or 7 leads in the same day. So a lot of people there were going out for a couple characters. You know, each role had like 4 or 5 actors that were there going on for it is crazy. But that was my first part of the audition and it was the last part of the process. So, I was there until the bitter end. I had to stay and, do stuff by myself so they could have tape of me, because I hadn’t submitted anything at all.”

It was just like the Hunger Games. And when someone, somebody was sent home, there was a big gong. Yeah, yeah. It was, it was a crazy day. I’ve never —  gotten to the end of the audition processes like that before, but — there are so many people in one of those buildings on the bay with no windows and just bad lighting. And we were there. I was there for probably 12 hours.

Belmont on filming season two of Off Campus

“We’re almost finished with the first two episodes of season two. We’ve read the first half of the episode, so we’ve read four it’s really good,” Belmont dished.

Jake then asked, “How different is it from the books?” to which he replied, “Well, it’s interesting because in a way the featured couple is similar to the book. So, you know, there’s a different featured couple each season. Which is cool. But the show is sometimes an amalgamation. You’ll have scenes from different books in one season. And we did that kind of last year or two. There were some scenes from different books that made it into season one. Season two will probably be the same way. So, it’s very like the books. But it’s dissimilar in some ways too. But, I mean, it’s just getting back there and doing table reads, is just a really nice reminder that our show is in the right hands because every time we get one of these scripts, I mean, they’re so well-written and our show really has a visual language now, and it’s it’s been fun to see that kind of what we established in season one, get translated into a really firm identity for season two. So when we’re reading these scripts are like, ‘Oh man, this is Off Campus.‘ It’s really cool.”

Jake asked him, “Oh, do you feel more in it? More comfortable? Or established?”

“Yeah. And the ensemble is really alive in this upcoming season,” Belmont responded. “Everybody has stuff going on all together, which is really fun.”

If you missed it, Belmont‘s co-star Ella Bright also recently opened up about filming season two!
