The FBI has released another update about Nancy Guthrie, denying an earlier report.
If you don’t know, Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom went missing earlier this year, and she was presumed taken from her Arizona home in the middle of the night after scary surveillance images emerged.
Throughout the course of the case, there have been numerous ransom notes sent, with various claims made. TMZ has been sharing updates about messages they’ve been receiving as well.
This week, it was said that the FBI determined that none of the ransom notes were real.
Now, the FBI has released a new statement in response to this report.
“The FBI and its task force partners have received several ransom notes over the course of this investigation. Some have been deemed to be extortion attempts without legitimacy. Other ransom demands may potentially be legitimate and are still being investigated as such,” the statement, posted to X, reads. “This case continues to be investigated as a kidnapping for ransom case. The FBI has and will continue to offer all assistance possible in the investigation — however local authorities remain the lead.”
