EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of this weekend’s release of his new film Super Troopers 3, which he directed and stars in opposite fellow members of comedy troupe Broken Lizard, Jay Chandrasekhar has announced Brown Supremacist, his debut solo stand-up special, which will begin streaming on Veeps at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST on Thursday, August 20.
In Brown Supremacist, Chandrasekhar tells edgy, joke-filled stories about his life as a comedian and a filmmaker. Included are stories of sex, race, and the time he got high with Willie Nelson.
Taped at Thalia Hall in Chandrasekhar’s hometown of Chicago, the special is exec produced by Chandrasekhar and Todd Stiefel and produced by Matt Schuler.
Prior to Brown Supremacist, Chandrasekhar directed and performed in the joint special Broken Lizard Stands Up, released in 2010. With Broken Lizard since his days at Colgate University, when the group went by the name Charred Goosebeak, Chandrasekhar is known for directing 2005’s The Dukes of Hazzard, a hit big-screen adaptation of the ’80s television show for Warner Bros., in addition to the cult classic Super Troopers films, Warner Bros.’ Beerfest and other titles.
In addition to his feature film work, Chandrasekhar has directed on such series as Arrested Development, Up All Night, Happy Endings, Community, Royal Pains, Blue Mountain State, Psych, Chuck, Undeclared, The Human Giant and Animal Control. He also tours the country doing stand-up comedy and is repped by UTA and Cinetic Media.
