We’ve gotten a sneak peek at Season 2 of Boston Blue in a CBS premiere week promo that has appeared on the show’s fan site, revealing that the sophomore season will launch on Friday, October 9.

Boston Blue, an offshoot of the network’s long-running Blue Bloods, follows franchise star Donnie Wahlberg’s character, Danny Reagan, who has left the NYPD for the Boston Police Department. Danny is partnered with Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green.

Season 2 will pick up following the shocking finale of Season 1 that left the fate of Detective Lena Silver’s (Martin-Green) boyfriend unknown after he was intentionally T-boned by a mystery driver and rammed off the road into the water. We also get a glimpse in the promo of Lena hospitalized after she was shot on the job, with a clearly worried Danny at her bedside. “Thank you for being there,” Lena whispers, as a concerned Danny replies, “Always.”

The series also brings Danny closer together on screen with his son Sean Reagan, a character that originated on Blue Bloods, portrayed by Mika Amonsen. Other stars from the mothership series that have appeared on the spinoff include Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan, Danny’s sister, and Marisa Ramirez as Maria Baez, Danny’s former partner and now girlfriend, who recurs.

Main cast also includes Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver, Ernie Hudson as Reverend Edwin Peters, Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver, and Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver.

Boston Blue is produced by CBS Studios. Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Donnie Wahlberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, and KristieAnne Reed executive produce for Jerry Bruckheimer Television. Sonnier and Margolis co-showrun.
