EXCLUSIVE: Aimee Lou Wood and David Morrissey are set for a one final round of Daddy Issues.

The star will return to star in a six-part Season 3 of the BBC show, which has been BBC Three’s biggest comedy launch since the start of 2022.

The show, which is filmed and set in Stockport, England, follows Wood as Gemma Moscrip, a woman coming to terms with life as a mother, supported by her hapless father (Morrissey).

Season 3 will wrap up the story, which moves on 18 months from the end of the second run. Gemma has been promoted at the hair salon and her daughter, Sadie, is now in nursery. With life in a familiar rhythm, Gemma considers if there is space for love, but a romantic encounter escalates and returns her to her chaotic former self, meaning she has to turn to her dad, who is becoming the adult she believes he can be.

Fudge Park produces the show, which is written and created by Danielle Ward. George Kane is the director, the producer is Andrew Harvey and the executive producers are Phil Gilbert for Fudge Park Productions, alongside Lou Wood, Morrissey, Ward and Damon Beesley.

Jon Petrie, the outgoing Director of Comedy Commissioning at the BBC, and Fiona Campbell, Controller, Youth Audience, BBC iPlayer and BBC Three, ordered the season with Seb Barwell the commissioner, and Fremantle on global sales.

“I’m so happy to be back with David and the brilliant Daddy Issues cast for one final time,” said Wood. Gemma and Malcolm are one of the funniest and sweetest comedy double acts on TV, and I’ve loved being a part of it.”

“As Daddy Issues becomes a threenager, it’s been great seeing audiences take Gemma and Malcolm to their hearts,” added Petrie. “Danielle has created a brilliantly sharp, fearless comedy and we can’t wait to see the Moscrip’s take the next, slightly wobbly steps in life with a toddler.”
