Jared Freid has set another comedy special at Netflix.
Titled “The Family Plan,” the stand-up hour will premiere on Sept. 1 on the streamer. The special finds Freid keeping his issues “in the family,” joking about everything from vacationing with his parents to a Karen video that hits close to home.
Directed by Jason Katz, the special was filmed at Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, New York, and serves as the follow up to Freid’s first Netflix special, 2023’s “37 & Single.”
Similar to his last special, “The Family Plan” is executive produced by Betches, the media company targeting millennial and Gen Z women that has served as a longtime creative partner of Freid’s. Executive producers also include Freid himself, Matthew Vaughan, James Dixon and Daniel Bodansky.
Freid is a stand-up comedian, podcaster and author based in New York City. His work focuses on modern dating life, with jokes about trying to find love on the apps, obsessing over body image and millennials attempting to be real adults.
He published his first book, “Walking Red Flag, Dating Advice From Your Favorite Guy Friend,” earlier this year via Simon & Schuster. The book blends comedy with practical dating advice for those exhausted with looking for romance.
Freid has appeared on “The Tonight Show,” “Good Morning Football” and “The Golden Bachelor,” where he hosted a roast of Mel Owens. He also voiced the narrator on the Peacock reality show “Love Under Cover” and appeared in the indie rom-com “31 Candles.” He hosts the “JTrain Podcast” and co-hosts “U Up?” with Jordana Abraham of Betches.
