EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures looks to have found its Brom Bones for its upcoming Sleepy Hollow movie. Sources tell Deadline that Belmont Cameli is set to join Sydney Sweeney in the studio’s adaptation of Hollow, the project based on filmmaker Lindsey Anderson Beer’s forthcoming debut novel.

Beer is also attached to direct as well as adapt her novel, which will be published by Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in fall 2027.

LuckyChap is producing along with Beer as well as Sweeney, who will produce through her new Honey Trap banner; Hollow is Honey Trap’s first film as producer. The newly launched company, which has Kaylee McGregor serving as President of Production and Development, recently announced a first-look deal with Sony Pictures.

The novel is a reimagining of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, told through the perspective of Katrina Van Tassel, played by Sweeney. Reframing one of literature’s most iconic heroines, the novel positions Van Tassel not as a romantic prize but as the central figure in a dangerous mystery and seductive supernatural love triangle. The story blends gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue and erotic thriller elements into a contemporary, high-concept reinvention of the classic tale.

Deadline first broke the news of the package as well as Sony coming on to it, and given Sweeney’s busy schedule moved fast to find the two actors at the center of the love triangle with Sweeney. While the producers are still looking for the movie’s Ichabod Crane, Cameli was quick to land the role of Bones.

Cameli is coming off his breakout role in the hit Prime Video series Off Campus, which drew 36 million viewers in its first 12 days of streaming. He also can recently be seen in Until Dawn and The Alto Knights. He is repped by Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Viewpoint and Hansen Jacobson.

Sweeney can most recently be seen opposite Amanda Seyfried in Lionsgate’s adaptation of the bestselling novel The Housemaid, which became a major box office success and led to the greenlighting of its sequel The Housemaid’s Secret.

Sweeney also took on one of the most transformative roles of her career in Christy, starring as trailblazing boxer Christy Martin in the David Michôd-directed film for Black Bear Pictures, which she also produced. Her performance earned critical praise. Sweeney is repped by Brillstein Entertainment Partners, CAA and Hansen Jacobson.

Beer previously directed the Stephen King adaptation Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which premiered at Fantastic Fest and broke Paramount+ records for viewership. She also wrote and executive produced the Cyrano de Bergerac retelling Sierra Burgess is a Loser, which debuted on Netflix at No. 1 globally and spawned a chart-topping original song “Sunflower” that Beer co-wrote. Her company, Lab Brew, has a first-look deal with Paramount Skydance. She is represented by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Gang Tyre Ramer Brown.
