Keke Palmer is ready to bring a little sweetness to The Voice: Celebrity.
After it was announced the Nope star would be hosting the competition series’ newest spinoff, which will see an all-celebrity cast compete for judges Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah and Riley Green, Palmer revealed what she’s most ready for in her new role.
“I'm so excited,” she gushed to E! News at the Keke Palmer Empower Hour with Fabletics on Aug. 5. “I’m excited about the fact that this season is about celebrities and people that don't do what they're coming here to do.”
After all, the 32-year-old knows a thing or two about setting trends with some new best friends.
“I'm somebody that always believes in doing something new, trying on a different hat,” Palmer added. “Why not explore and challenging yourself? So, I'm very honored that they asked me to be the host of this particular season, because it's what I believe in.”
The True Jackson VP also thinks the new format—which sees her picking up the mic from flagship show host Carson Daly—will resonate with viewers.
“I'm hoping that people watch at home,” she began “like whatever dreams and other outside things you want to do, then maybe you're inspired by seeing these people that are already successful in one field still try to do something that they got to start at level one from.”
As she put it, “There's nothing to it but to do it, you know? The worst thing that can happen is you learn something new and you get better.”
And that willingness to try something new is something Palmer brings to all facets of her life—including her athletic wardrobe.
While she favors the burgundy and mint matching sets from her new line with Fabletics, she isn’t afraid to be flexible (literally and figuratively).
“I love a little matching set moment. It keeps it very playful, very baby doll,” she admitted, before noting, “I can also do a mix and match moment.”
As for where she rocks her Fabletics clothing, Palmer said, “My favorite type of workout is Pilates. I love Pilates and I love hiking. I absolutely love walking, honey.”
“A dream day for me is 10,000 steps in the morning, 10,000 steps at night,” she revealed. “20,000 steps just like that.”
But one thing that’s a big nope? Try hard trainers.
“My fitness pet peeve is people trying to kill you in the gym,” Palmer said. “That's not what this should be about. I'm not learning the moves, I'm dying on the floor. I'm dying on the damn workout floor because you're trying to show me how tough of a trainer you are. I don't like that.”
Instead, “people should be coming to your workout classes wanting to come back,” she added. “So they can actually reach their goals.”
