Axl Duhamel is transforming before his dad Josh Duhamel's eyes.

After all, the 12-year-old was nearly the same height as the Transformers star during their day at Universal Studios Hollywood with Josh's wife Audra Mari and their 2-year-old Shepard. 

Indeed, Josh held the toddler in his arms while smiling alongside Axl—whom he shares with ex-wife Fergie—and Audra on Aug. 26 by the iconic Universal globe in front of the theme park's entrance. 

For the occasion, the tween stepped out in a black T-shirt and matching shorts, while the patriarch opted for a white V-neck shirt and black shorts. Meanwhile, Audra, 32, wore an oversized green T-shirt and Shepard was dressed in a waffle-knit set.

For Josh and Fergie—who split in 2017 before finalizing their divorce two years later—meeting one another halfway has been a priority as they raise Axl.

"Fergie is an amazing woman. She really is," the Ransom Canyon actor said on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show in September 2023. "She's taken Audra in. It could be much worse. That's the thing: you never know how these things are gonna go."

In fact, Josh—who welcomed daughter Rocca de Leon with Audra in May—admitted he wasn't sure whether he and the Black Eyed Peas alum could maintain a glamorous co-parenting relationship. So, he gives a lot of credit to his former partner.

"Because she's such a kindhearted person, she really, truly is. She only has love for Audra, and I can't believe how excited she is for us," the 53-year-old explained. "We have a really civil situation."

And the feeling is mutual for Fergie (real name Stacy Ann Ferguson).

"We're great friends," she told People in 2017. "It just got to the point where it was getting a little weird. There's no perfect time, so we just decided to do it."

As Axl continues to reach his childhood milestones, the "Fergalicious" singer has shared rare glimpses of her special bond with their son.

"I am so proud to see how independent you're becoming and what a kind human you are," Fergie, 51, wrote on Instagram last August. "Discovering everything you're into and watching you grow brings such joy."

The All My Children actor added an outdoorsy photo to the birthday tribute, showing the pair making a splash during a lake trip.

Axl bonded with his grandfather Jon Patrick Ferguson in July 2020, when Fergie wrote, "Happy 73rd birthday dad!! We love you so much."

"Happy 7th Birthday #AxlJack," the musician wrote in 2020. "You are my world."

Her birthday post to her son also unveiled a sweet snap of him flashing a smile during a boat outing. 

"I am so grateful to be your mommy Axl Jack," the "Big Girls Don't Cry" singer captioned this photo of their Burberry matching moment in May 2023.

"To my buddy boy...you bring my life a lot of joy," Josh wrote on Instagram on Father's Day 2023. "Love you kid."

Fergie marked Axl's 10th birthday in August 2023 with a series of photos of her boy, including this silly shot.

"To my caring, funny, outgoing, loving, smart, talkative, creative super hero enthusiast," she wrote in her birthday tribute. "Happy 10th birthday punky!!! I love you Axl Jack."

Axl became a big brother in January 2024, when Josh welcomed baby boy Shepherd with wife Audra Mari.

As an avid soccer fan, Axl rang in his 11th birthday in 2024 while wearing his favorite jersey.

"It is so fun watching you grow in every phase of your life," Fergie wrote on Instagram. "No matter what jersey you’re wearing I’ll always be your biggest cheerleader for anything you want to do in life. I love you beyond word."

Axl may not be old enough to rock and roll all night yet, but on his 12th birthday Fergie celebrated the multitudes her son contains.

"I am so proud to see how independent you’re becoming and what a kind human you are," she wrote on Instagram Aug. 29, 2025. "Discovering everything you’re into and watching you grow brings such joy… I feel so lucky to be your mom."
