Madonna‘s new album, Confessions II, arrives on Friday (July 3), and fans are already in a panic as the album begins to launch across the world.
“Good for the Soul” is one of the tracks featured on the 67-year-old Queen of Pop’s new record, a continuation of her 2005 project Confessions on a Dance Floor with Stuart Price.
Fans first got to hear the song as part of her Confessions II – The Film, a star-studded 10-minute visual containing six songs from the album.
“Don’t forget that / That it’s good for the soul / To let down your hair and breath in the air / Good for the soul / ‘Cause up to the sky, a thousand birds fly,” she sings on the spiritual dance record, co-written and produced by herself and Stuart. “Good for the soul / The ones that you love will keep you above / Good for the soul / So just dance in the rain, no need to explain.“
“It’s hard for me to write a song about nothing. I have to tell a story. So I wrote about a lot of family trauma, and then we started making dance music. I came back and forth a couple of times and then I said, ‘Okay, this is right. This feels good…I’m going to start going down this road,'” she recently said of the inspiration behind the album.
