When her BFF Taylor Swift put in a request for a punny T-shirt, Alana Haim was ready for it.

After the "No Body, No Crime" singers went viral for wearing matching custom New York Knicks merch at Game 4 of the NBA finals June 10, Alana—who made the shirts—shared how the idea for the creative tees came to be. 

"I got a text from Taylor that was really the text that you want to get as an amateur screen printer," she told Vogue in an interview published June 11. "She said, 'I want to wear this shirt to the game, can you make it for me?' and I was like, 'I thought you would never ask, this is my dream.'"

"Whenever I start out a session with a friend, I go: 'Let’s talk about puns, let's talk about sizing,'" she continued. "And [Taylor] came up with Stevie Knicks."

Indeed, for the Knicks game, Taylor showed off her love for the Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, the NBA team and puns, rocking a blue shirt that read "Stevie Knicks" in orange bubble letters, with the Grammy winner matching with Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay.

Alana and her sister Este Haim, meanwhile, joined in on the pun, wearing the same shirts, except theirs read "Knickleback" and "Knickole Kidman," respectively. (According to Vogue, the third Haim sister, Danielle Haim, was also at the game and donned a custom Knicks tee of her own that read, "Knickolas Cage.")

"We were kind of going back and forth with these puns," Alana recalled. "We really just wanted to have fun, because we were so excited that we were going to the game, and I thought it would make people laugh, so we put them on shirts and all decided to wear them."

And while her best friend Taylor may be a billionaire, Alana purchased the blue Gildan t-shirts at Michael's craft store for only $2.99 each, adding orange screen-printing puff ink for the letters, a rep told Vogue. 

"I always bring extras, and Taylor really wanted to bring extras so we could give them to friends," Alana shared. "And Mariska was so down; she’s such an amazing human being, and I’m such a big fan of her, so the fact that she also wanted to wear one of my shirts was insane."

As the Licorice Pizza actress put it, the epic courtside fashion look "really bonded us all together."

"I’ve never hugged someone more than at that game," she added of Mariska. "It was such an incredible game, so I was really happy that we had brought extras."

Although the 30-year-old and her sisters are L.A. natives, Alana shared that she was thrilled to cheer on the Knicks with her pals as they clinched an epic win against the San Antonio Spurs. 

"It's just such an incredible season for them, and it was such an honor to root for them," she said. "That was, I think, maybe the greatest basketball game ever played, and I’m hoping they bring home the championship, because they’re such an incredible team, and I'm glad that they got to see our shirts."

And the players weren't the only ones who noticed the tees. After all, Nicole Kidman reacted to Este's "Knickole Kidman" shirt.

"Right there with you girls!" she wrote on her Instagram Stories June 10 alongside a clip of Este and Taylor at the game.
