Former Gotham co-stars and real-life husband-and-wife Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin will reunite on-screen in the Season 2 premiere of Baccarin’s Sheriff Country, their first appearance together on the CBS series. See photos above and below.
In the “Cylone” premiere episode, as Sheriff Mickey Fox (Baccarin) struggles to process a shocking revelation about her family, she races to save a troubled young woman whose descent into a dangerous criminal operation uncovers a growing threat to all of Edgewater, per the logline.
McKenzie will guest star as Sheriff Wade, a neighboring sheriff who is called in to assist Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey Fox, and has a few secrets of his own.
The Fire Country spinoff series follows straight-shooting sheriff Mickey Fox (Baccarin), the stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone (Fire Country‘s Diane Farr). She investigates criminal activity while she patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater, contending with her ex-con father, Wes (W. Earl Brown), who is an off-the-grid marijuana grower, and a mysterious incident involving her wayward daughter.
Max Thieriot, Joan Rater, Tony Phelan, Matt Lopez, and Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed executive produce for Jerry Bruckheimer Television.
McKenzie who played Detective James Gordon, and Baccarin who portrayed Dr. Leslie Thompkins on Gotham, began their relationship while working on the show, later marrying in real life. Their characters shared an extensive romantic storyline and eventurally married on-screen during the series finale.
Season 2 of Sheriff Country premieres Friday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.
