Outer Banks season 5 debuted today (August 20) on Netflix, and fans might be curious about the future of the series and if there will be a season 6.
The series will be coming to an end, and a quote from one of the cast member’s better explains the decision.
Why Is Outer Banks ending?
The decision to end the show was announced in 2024.
The show’s co-creators & executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke said in a statement, “Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break.“
At the time, they didn’t fully explain the decision, but star Chase Stokes later gave a clarifying quote.
He revealed why the show might be ending.
“We want the story to end on the right note versus [turning] four seasons into season nine and we’re going after aliens or something,” Chase previously told People. “We want to cut the chord before we lose the plot.”
He added that the cast is “thankful for the run, and we’re ready for it to be done.”
What is Outer Banks season 5 about?
