Jesse McCartney is about to have another little “Beautiful Soul” in his life.
The singer and his wife, Katie Peterson, announced Thursday (Oct. 1) that they’re expecting their second child together. The couple shared the news on Instagram with a series of family photos featuring their 16-month-old son, Archer, who is getting ready for a new title: big brother.

“Archer is getting promoted to big brother,” McCartney and Peterson wrote in their joint announcement, followed by a white heart emoji and the date “March 2027.”
In the photos, the family coordinated in white while posing outside, with Archer sporting an adorable bowtie and the couple holding up a strip of sonogram images.
McCartney, 39, and Peterson, 38, welcomed Archer in May 2025, starting a brand-new chapter for the singer, who has spent much of his career in the spotlight since breaking out as a member of Dream Street before launching his solo music and acting career.
The singer has also given fans a lot of peeks into his new life as a dad, including a video of himself earlier this year working on new music at the piano while Archer was strapped to his chest. He jokingly referred to his infant son as his “new co-writer,” showing just how fatherhood had become part of his everyday life.
In October, Peterson shared photos from McCartney’s New York City performance at The Rooftop at Pier 17, where the family spent time backstage and at the show. Archer was photographed wrapped in a custom blanket referencing his dad’s signature hit “Beautiful Soul.”
Released in 2004, “Beautiful Soul” became McCartney’s defining song. The track reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, while its accompanying album of the same name peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200.
