Derek Hough is putting on a show and getting raw with the audience about the past few years.
The 41-year-old Dancing With the Stars performed his Symphony of Dance: Encore tour featuring Hayley Hough in Las Vegas on Sunday (August 16) at the BleauLive Theater inside Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
Here’s more about the show, from the Fontainebleau: “The live dance show features new high-energy choreography, stunning stage production, astounding versatility and, as always, Derek’s unrivaled stage presence. Fans will journey through a true fusion of dance and music, as Derek explores styles ranging from ballroom and tap to salsa and hip-hop and everything in between.”

Derek Hough Gets Emotional Talking About Hayley & Daughter Everley
Later during the show, Derek got emotional while talking about his wife Hayley.
“These past couple years have held some of the highest highs and also some of the deepest lows. A few years ago, my wife, she suffered a brain bleed during this very show. And I was told by a doctor that she might not survive. And even if she did, that she wouldn’t be the same person that I once knew. I really felt like I lost her,” he admitted.
“And then a few months later, she made this incredible comeback from her recovery with strength and courage,” he continued.
“Then shortly after that, we found out that we were expecting. But sadly, we ended up losing that. That was a heartbreak unlike anything that I had ever experienced before. Our entire world just lost all of its color and everything felt dull and gray and empty. Just so endless. And then the moment sudden rainbows began to appear everywhere, literally outside of our house, this big, beautiful, vibrant rainbow. While we’re driving, we see rainbows everywhere. And when we think back to all these things that had happened, we can’t believe that the biggest thing that ever happened to us was still to come. This next dance is dedicated to my little rainbow, our daughter Everley,” he went on to say.
Derek Hough Brings His Mom Onstage & Reveals How She Got Him Into Dancing
In another sweet moment, he invited his mother up to the stage.
“I often get asked, how did you get into dancing? And it was my mom. She made me go. I did not want to go. I have four sisters, I was the only boy. And we’d go to dance class, I would just sit around kicking rocks in the parking lot. And she goes, well, you might as well go in and learn something. And I was like, I don’t really want to go. She’s like, you’re going. And I was like, I don’t wanna go, I don’t wanna go. It’s for girls. And I walked in, I was like, oh, there’s girls in here. I don’t like the ratio. But…I love you, Mom,” he said.
Derek Hough Pays Tribute to Late ‘DWTS’ Judge Len Goodman
He also took a moment to honor Len Goodman, who sadly died in 2023.
“Tonight, I would like to take a moment and honor a dear friend of mine that I’ve known since I was 15 years old, Mr. Len Goodman. If you are a fan of Dancing with the Stars, you’re a fan of Len‘s, right?” he said as he discussed their relationship.
“I’ll never take that for granted. It’s a huge honor, it’s a privilege, and I want to pay tribute to that and tribute to him by tipping my hat to him tonight in the dance to a song that I knew he loved. I knew he loved this song. With a dance. I hope you like it. I’ll take a seven. Len! No riff-raff, no messing about. Just a clean, simple waltz,” Derek said.
