EXCLUSIVE: Room Best Actress Oscar winner Brie Larson is set to star as Katy Silver and executive produce Paramount Pictures’ feature adaptation of Rebecca Serle‘s New York Times bestselling novel One Italian Summer.

Enola Holmes franchise filmmaker, Harry Bradbeer, is set to helm the Temple Hill Entertainment production.

A theatrical release for Mother’s Day weekend, May 12, 2028, has also been set. Serle will executive produce alongside David Stone of TFC Productions. The only other title on Mother’s Day weekend 2028 is Warner Bros/New Line’s Final Destination 7.

Serle has been a hot commodity in Hollywood. The WME repped author has her NYT bestseller, Expiration Dates, set up at Amazon MGM Studios starring Emma Roberts and produced by Chelsea Bradshaw and Jessica Pugh’s Featherweight Pictures. Serle’s Once and Again is in early works at Apple Original Films with Liz Tigelaar adapting. Serle also developed the hit TV adaptation Famous in Love, based on her YA series of the same name.

Larson starred in Disney/Marvel Studio’s Captain Marvel which grossed over $1.1 billion at the global box office. She also starred in the second highest grossing movie of all-time, Avengers: Endgame ($2.79B) as well as The Marvels. Larson headlined the Apple TV+’s Lessons in Chemistry, earning Emmy, SAG, Critics Choice, and Golden Globe nominations, and voices Rosalina in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Her upcoming projects include FX’s Cry Wolf, Amazon MGM Studios’ Close Personal Friends, and Sony’s Skeletons. Behind the camera, Larson directed and produced Disney+’s Growing Up, Remembering, and the Emmy-winning Messy Truth VR Experience, and made her feature directorial debut with Unicorn Store. The actress is repped by WME and Sloane Offer. As the director and producer of Amazon’s Fleabag, Bradbeer earned multiple Emmy, BAFTA, PGA, Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards. His extensive TV credits also include such series as Killing Eve (BBC), Ramy (Hulu), The Hour (BBC), No Offence (Channel 4), and the BBC drama This Life. Most recently, Bradbeer directed the first two episodes of Amazon’s Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage. In film, Bradbeer is currently in post-production on A Matter of Time for Netflix, starring Ben Stiller and Nicholas Galitzine. He made his feature directorial debut with the hit Enola Holmes for Legendary Entertainment and Netflix, starring Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter, and returned to helm its successful sequel, Enola Holmes 2.
