The 30-year-old actor stars in two big movies that are currently in theaters – The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day – and both films have been breaking records.
However, with the success of those two movies, Tom is breaking a record of his own, and has become the highest-grossing actor at the box office!
As Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to rack up millions at the box office, it brings Tom to the top of the highest-grossing stars at the box office, with his theatrical releases earning $15.5 billion, per ComicBook.com!
At this weekend’s box office, Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned an additional $27.4 million worldwide, bringing its total to $2.452 billion, per Deadline. The fourth Spider-Man movie for Tom is also now the third highest-grossing film of all time, and it’s tracking to become the highest-grossing film at the domestic box office, needing $18.9 million more in earnings in the US to surpass Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
For The Odyssey, the film earned an additional $34.4 million this weekend worldwide, bringing its total to $1.68 billion.
With Tom‘s latest box office feats, he has now passed several other Marvel stars to take the top spot as the highest-grossing actor!
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Zoe Saldana took the top spot, following the success of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Her cumulative total of box office earnings came to $15.468 billion!
She surpassed Scarlett Johansson at $15.401 billion, who previously held the title. Also among the top earners are Samuel L Jackson with $14.6 billion, Robert Downey Jr with $14.3 billion, and Chris Pratt with $14.1 billion.
All the top-earning actors at the box office are part of the MCU, whose movies are among the highest-grossing. Avengers: Endgame is the second-highest-grossing film of all time, and Avengers: Infinity War is the sixth.
