Zendaya is celebrating a major milestone birthday.
The Euphoria actress officially turned 30 years old on Tuesday (September 1) after an especially huge year in both her personal life and career.
Over the past decade-plus, Zendaya has made the leap from Disney Channel favorite to Emmy-winning actress and one of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars, appearing in blockbuster franchises like Spider-Man and Dune.
She also enters her 30s as a newlywed after quietly marrying longtime love Tom Holland earlier this year.

Her Disney Channel beginnings
Zendaya broke out playing Rocky Blue on Shake It Up beginning in 2010. She later starred as K.C. Cooper in K.C. Undercover. She also had a few guest appearances on shows like A.N.T. Farm and starred in Disney Channel Original Movies such as Zapped and Frenemies.

She made the jump to major movies
Spider-Man: Homecoming introduced her as MJ opposite Tom Holland. The Greatest Showman was another significant mainstream movie and musical moment.
Hugh Jackman actually recently recalled realizing very early while making The Greatest Showman that she was destined to become one of the biggest stars of her generation.

Euphoria significantly altered her career trajectory
Zendaya began playing Rue Bennett on HBO’s Euphoria in 2019. Her performance was a firm pivot in the direction of more adult and prestige drama. She won two Emmy Awards for the series.

The era of Dune
She joined Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune as Chani and has a larger role in the upcoming Dune: Part Two. Being in Dune has helped to cement her place as a big blockbuster movie star alongside Spider-Man.

Challengers was a bold new direction
In Challengers, Zendaya got to show off a totally different side of her acting abilities as Tashi Duncan. She also served as a producer on the film and it proved she could not only star in franchises, but anchor major movies outside of them, too.

2026 has been her biggest year yet
Zendaya started off 2026 starring in the buzzy movie The Drama and later appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Greek epic The Odyssey. Then she returned as MJ again in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. She’s also truly brought some show-stopping looks to the various red carpets she’s been at this year.

She and Tom Holland got married
Zendaya‘s stylist Law Roach shared earlier this year that she and Tom quietly got married and Tom later confirmed it. They held a celebration for family and friends in England in August.
