Annabel Scholey, the British actress most recently seen in the Disney+ hit “Rivals,” has joined the cast of Netflix‘s upcoming thriller series “The Lord’s Day,” now in production in the U.K.

Variety understands that Scholey, also known for BBC series “The Split,” has a key role in the six-part series, based on Michael Dobbs’ 2007 novel of the same name and being led by F1 star Damson Idris.

Additional cast members include Harry Lawtey (“Industry,” “Joker: Folie à Deux”), Arsema Thomas (“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,” “She Taught Love”), Sophie Willan (“Alma’s Not Normal”, “Ludwig”), Gemma Whelan (“Game of Thrones,” “Killing Eve”) and Timothy Spall (“The Sixth Commandment,” “Goodbye June”).

The official description for the series reads, “On the State Opening of Parliament, British spy Harry Jones (Idris) finds himself inside the iconic building amidst a lockdown. As the siege escalates, loyalties are tested and selfless sacrifices are made, leading to a desperate fight for survival where not everyone will emerge alive. Can Harry use his skills and training to be the country’s saviour?”

“The Lord’s Day” is being produced by Bad Wolf, the production company behind “Industry,” “His Dark Materials,” “The Other Bennett Sister” and recently co-producers on the last two seasons of “Doctor Who.” Alongside his starring role, Idris also executive produces alongside Jane Tranter and Dan McCulloch for Bad Wolf as well as lead writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley and director Ben Chanan.

Other credits for Scholey include a lead role in Channel 4 hit drama “The Couple Next Door” and Janis Pugh’s Welsh romantic comedy-musical film “Chuck Chuck Baby,” which won the Bafta Cymru for best feature / TV film. In 2023, she starred opposite her “The Lord’s Day” co-star Spall in the BBC’s acclaimed true-crime drama “The Sixth Commandment,” which won the BAFTA for best limited drama.
