After conspiracy theories emerged online that the "Love You Like a Love Song" singer was actually replaced by a clone, she poked fun at the speculation.Â
In a skit posted by Micky Gordon on Instagram April 1, Selena walked up to the receptionist desk at the Rare Beauty HQ, saying, "My new assistant is starting today. Is she here?"
After learning that her new employee was already in her office, they sat down to discuss the day's tasks on her to-do list.
"The foundation casting," Mickey began, "and then, something about calling a clone. I don't know, could ignore that."
Selena's cheeky video comes as online users have theorized that Selena, 33, had been replaced by a body double, citing changes in her appearance and mannerisms. In one instance, she addressed the speculation about her voice after fans noticed her tone had changed.
"I've gotten this question a few times. Sometimes, when I'm onânever mind, there's no excuse," Selena said in December. "I don't really care. I think my point is that things happen. My throat kind of swells on the inside sometimes. That's all."
The Rare Beauty founder previously shared that all of the changes she experienced were a result of her ongoing battle with lupus and her bipolar disorder diagnosis.Â
"My lupus, my kidney transplant, chemotherapy, having a mental illness, going through very public heartbreaks," she told Elle in 2021, "these were all things that honestly should have taken me down."
But Selenaâwho tied the knot with Benny Blanco in Novemberâalways tries to remember how impactful her transparency has been for others.
"Every time I went through something, I was like, 'What else? What else am I going to have to deal with? You're going to help people,'" she reflected. "That's really what kept me going. There could have been a time when I wasn't strong enough, and would have done something to hurt myself."

In the 2010s, fans noticed the âLavender Hazeâ singerâs affinity for high-waisted pants, prompting an online wave of conspiracies, including that she was an alien born without a belly button.
Taylor even addressed the reason she kept her navel out of the spotlight.
âI donât like showing my belly button,â she told Lucky magazine in 2014. âI want that to be a mystery. As far as anyone knows based on my public appearances, they havenât seen evidence of a belly button. It could be pierced. They have no idea. If Iâm going to get some sort of massive tattoo, itâs going to be right next to my belly button because no oneâs ever going to see that.â
However, after paparazzi snapped pics of the singer and her friends wearing bikinis while vacationing in 2015, she ultimately posted snaps of herself in the swimsuit to Instagram.Â
âWe realize, âOkay so they got pictures of us in our bikinis, like I donât want them to make like $100,000 for stalking us,ââ Taylor recounted on BBC Radio 1âs Breakfast Show in 2015. âSo weâre like, âGet up on the bow of the boat, weâre taking better bikini shots, so they donât make as much money on theirs.ââÂ
The âSk8er Boiâ rocker reacted to online theories that she died in the early aughts and was replaced by a doppelganger named Melissa, who supposedly was hired before the singerâs âdeathâ to stand in for her at public events due to Avrilâs exhaustion.Â
âI mean, itâs just funny to me,â the âComplicatedâ singer said on a May 2024 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. âOn one end, everyoneâs like, âYou look the exact same. You havenât aged a day.â But then other people are like, thereâs a conspiracy theory that Iâm not me.â
Though the Grammy winnerâwho is now mom to daughter Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir with husband Jay-Zâiconically debuted her first pregnancy during a performance at the 2011 MTV VMAs, she became the subject of theories that she wore a fake belly bump and enlisted a surrogate.
âThat was crazy. It wasnât hurtful, it was just crazy,â she told People in 2012, per The Hollywood Reporter. âWhere did they come up with this?â
Fans thought BeyoncĂ©âs baby bump appeared to deflate during an appearance on an Australian TV show months prior, which the singer shot down as âstupid, ridiculous and falseâ through a rep at the time.Â

Stevie Wonder Addresses Rumor He's Not Really Blind
The âIsnât She Lovelyâ singerâwho was born prematurely and is blind as a result of retinopathy of prematurity, a condition that impacts eye growth and causes the retinas to detachâdebunked the longstanding rumor that he can actually see during a July 2025 concert in the U.K.
"You know there have been rumors about me seeing and all that? But seriously, you know the truth," Stevie told the crowd, as seen in a fan's Instagram video. "Truth is, shortly after my birth, I became blind.â
The Grammy winner considers his blindness a gift, though, adding, "Now, that was a blessing because itâs allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth, of sight. See people in the spirit of them, not how they look. Not what color they are, but what color is their spirit?"
