Roadmap Writers is partnering with Longevity Pictures for The Dark Roads Horror & Thriller Feature Competition.The competition aims to discover the next generation of horror and thriller feature writers with the winning screenplay receiving a $2,500 option agreement with Longevity Pictures, the goal to develop the projects for production.
“The Horror/Thriller genre is one of our favorites with screenwriters that continually invent new ways to exhilarate audiences. The out of the box hits of Backrooms and Obsession prove there is mainstream interest in the genre and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Longevity Pictures on this competition,” said Joey Tuccio, CEO of Roadmap Writers.
The submission period runs through August 30, 2026. Each submitted screenplay will be judged by independent industry experts and scored by: Premise/Concept, Characters, Story, Structure, Voice/Style, and Marketability. Ten Semifinalists will participate in a virtual interview with Roadmap Writers. Five Finalists will meet with the Longevity Pictures team. The competition is part of the free Summer of Horror Webinar Series, a collection of live 30-minute Zoom conversations featuring accomplished horror writers, directors, editors, and filmmakers who take participants behind the scenes of their careers. Guests include: Producer at Tea Shop Productions James Harris (Obsession, V/H/S Halloween), Editor Greg Ng (Backrooms), Director of Development at C2 Motion Picture Group Connor Purcell (The Monkey, Longlegs), VP at Dark Castle Kelly Gallagher (Orphan: First Kill), Head of Sales at The Coven Anelle Dehghani (Terrifier 2 and 3), and Producer Joe Russo (Nightmare Cinema, The Inheritance).
