Kim Kardashian supported one of her childhood best friends at a charity event over the weekend!
The reality star and actress, 45, attended This Is About Humanity’s 8th Annual Soiree on Saturday night (August 29) in Hollywood.
This Is About Humanity is a community of allies and advocates dedicated to raising awareness about separated and reunified families and children at the US-Mexico border. Founded in 2018 by Elsa Marie Collins, Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade, and Zoe Winkler Reinis, This Is About Humanity has been able to support families with essentials for living, access to legal services, mental wellness checkups, and other services while educating communities through proximate trips to the border and community programming.
Kim is childhood friends with Zoe and met up with her and her father, Henry Winkler, at the fundraiser. During the fundraising portion of the night, sources tell JustJared.com that Kim raised her paddle to donate $50,000!
The event honored Wilmer Valderrama for his generous support and commitment over the years. The soiree raised money for This is About Humanity’s fund at the International Community Foundation, programs with Immigrant Defenders Law Center, and their food relief kitchen at the border.
Wilmer was joined at the event by his partner, Amanda Pacheco, and their daughter.
“Because when a family is separated, when a kid is sitting in a shelter, when someone needs a meal, a lawyer or someone to talk to, I think it’s pretty simple. People need people,” he said during his speech.
Other celebs in attendance at the event included Katharine McPhee, Constance Marie, Michael Cimino, Mayan Lopez and more. Guests enjoyed a culinary showcase led by Michelin Award Winning Lead Chef, Javier Plascencia and Michelin Award Winning Sommelier, Laura Plascencia.
