Kingdom Hearts 4 fans are convinced news about the long-awaited sequel will finally be revealed next month.
Kingdom Hearts 4 was officially announced by Square Enix during a 20th anniversary livestream back in 2022 but five years later, the follow-up to 2019’s Kingdom Hearts 3 still doesn’t have a release date.
Fans are hoping that’ll change next month though, with a special 25th anniversary panel announced for annual Disney convention D23. “Join us for a journey through light and darkness as we commemorate 25 years of Kingdom Hearts,” reads the description. “Discover how this saga united Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix, with insights from the creative minds, character voices, and more behind the magic.”
To the people out there saying KH4 will NOT be there, let’s do the math shall
We.1. EVERY SINGLE TIME KH SHOWED UP TO D23 THEY HAD A NEW TRAILER TO SHOW

“This is gonna fuel a year’s worth of tears if we see nothing new about Kingdom Heart 4 here. Don’t even need a projected release date (would be firaga tho) but show something besides Quadratum,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “I still remember how big of a reaction the Toy Story reveal got at the 2017 D23 event. Hope we can get something equally as big and monumental for this one too,” added another. “Please god give us a release date,” said a third.
A new trailer was shared for Kingdom Hearts 4 last month that confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 owners will be able to play the same day as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S gamers.
Last year, Square Enix boss Tetsuya Nomura told fans the team were making “great strides” on a new Kingdom Hearts game and that everything was progressing according to schedule, after rumours of a delay.
“We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations,” Square Enix wrote shortly after cancelling mobile game Missing Link. “We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts. We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts 4 when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience.”
