Rob Lowe may best be known for roles in the political series “The West Wing” and more recently, “9-1-1 Lone Star.” But his next job may be his most serious of them all.
The actor will work with Accredited Debt Relief, debt settlement company that negotiates with creditors to reduce the amount they owe for credit card and medical bills as well as, personal loans. A campaign set to launch in August aims to challenge the stigma that arises when consumers face financial hardships. In one TV spot, Lowe shares how a family grapples with the possibility that their son may not be able to play on the baseball team because they can no longer afford the program’s costs.
“Americans are carrying more debt than ever, and the weight of it can feel overwhelming. We need to talk openly about real solutions,” says Lowe. “I’m grateful that Accredited Debt Relief invited me to help tell stories that reduce stigma, encourage people to seek support when they need it, and remind them that financial hardship doesn’t define who they are. Everyone deserves the chance to spend less time stressed about money and more time living their lives.”
Lowe has appeared in many different advertising and marketing campaigns over the years. About a decade ago, he worked for DirecTV in a humorous effort that unveiled oddball alter-egos such as “Super Creepy Rob Lowe: and “Painfully Awkward Rob Lowe.” The commercials generated enough publicity that rival Comcast complained about then. The actor has also served as a celebrity spokesperson for the Atkins Diet
