Russell Crowe has his family’s support at the 2026 Venice Film Festival.

The Oscar-winning actor, 62, was joined by his girlfriend Britney Theriot and his 20-year-old son Tennyson at the festival on Friday (September 11) in Venice, Italy.

Russell celebrated the premiere of his new self-directed documentary What Love Builds, which explores his dive into a music career.

Russell said about the documentary, “Everything in my life as a creative person begins with music. For fifteen years I’ve been gathering material, concert footage, archive photos and interviews about my lesser-known career as a musician. It’s a film about storytelling, performance, artistic integrity, determination and joy.”

At a press conference, Russell was asked if he prefers making music over acting.

“Everything that I do as a film actor is informed because I know how to drive an audience, live, even if they’re not in the room. I still carry that kind of expectation, understanding of what the audience is understanding, what they’re going to get out of any performance… that doesn’t mean at all that I’m any kind of a slave to the audience, it’s just that I’m aware, which comes out of coming out of rock and roll and theater,” he said (via Deadline).

Russell recently explained why he won’t marry his girlfriend.
