Clint Black was forced to cancel his scheduled Friday night (July 3) show at the Pearl River Resort in Choctaw, Miss. after being rushed to a hospital on Sunday (June 28). In an Instagram post announcing the call-off, Black said the medical emergency resulted in his admission to a hospital earlier this week due to “infected tonsils requiring emergency intravenous antibiotic treatment.”

The message from the “Hey Good Lookin'” singer assured fans that Black, 64, is “on the mend and will make a full recovery and is expected to be discharged from the hospital later this week. Clint and his management team sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this cancellation may cause.”

All tickets will be fully refunded from the original point of purchase.

The next stop on Black’s Back on the Blacktop tour is slated to bring him to The Carson Valley Inn — TJ’s Corral Outdoor Event Center in Minden, Nev. on July 9, with dates slated through a Nov. 14 show at the L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, La.; Black will also hit a number of festivals and perform with Cody Johnson on his tour in between headlining gigs. In October, Black has lined up a string of eight shows with Midland in North Carolina, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky, Alabama and Virginia.

In May, Black released his memoir Killin’ Time: My Life and Music, which publisher HarperCollins describes as a “raw, intimate and unflinching story that traces his rise from struggling songwriter to chart-topping superstar and enduring music legend.”

Speaking to People about the book, Black said it is about the “life of a child of a blue-collar family, coming up with a little education, and really making a good go of it, persevering through just determination. I was just a scrappy little kid, trying not to drown, finding my way into the nightclubs and then the record business. [I was] pushing through hurdle after hurdle, injury after injury, surgery after surgery, and all those things that happen in every life and continuing to strive for excellence.”
