Production has officially begun on Pete Davidson‘s new movie Tommy Karate, and we have a first look at him in character as Bonanno crime family killer Tommy Pitera.
If you don’t know, Pitera was a real-life figure who made headlines decades ago. Federal prosecutors said he participated in multiple murders and other organized crime activities during the 1980s and early 1990s. In 1992, he was convicted on racketeering, murder and related charges and was sentenced to life in prison without parole, where he remained until his death in 2024.
Here’s the synopsis:
Inspired by a true story, Tommy Karate is based on Philip Carlo’s non-fiction book The Butcher: Anatomy Of A Mafia Psychopath and chronicles the pursuit and eventual capture of Pitera, a mob enforcer suspected of as many as 60 murders and known for the martial arts skills that earned him his nickname.
The film “will chart the pursuit and capture of one of America’s most ruthless mobsters and serial killers by notorious DEA Agent Jim Hunt played by Paul Walter Hauser.”
Camila Morrone and Simon Rex are also set to star. Justin Chon directs. Stay tuned for more information!
