“I’m really grateful for this new chapter with Motown Gospel and Capitol CMG,” Hawthorne said in a statement. “I’ve been blessed to do a lot in my career already, but I still feel like I’m just getting started in so many ways. I’ve grown as an artist, as a woman and in my faith, and I wanted to be in a place that understood all of that. This partnership feels aligned with where I am now and where I am headed next.”
This fall, Hawthorne will release her first project with Motown Gospel, a new EP executive-produced by J. White Did It, known for his work with Doechii, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Yung Miami. The set will follow her 2024 album On God…, which reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart.
Hawthorne is set to preview the new music through the upcoming single “His Favorite,” an uplifting track that blends Gospel and R&B with a message of encouragement and positivity.
Of the upcoming project, Hawthorne said, “I wanted this project to feel fresh and elevated while staying rooted in the message that has always been at the center of my music. I worked with amazing producers I’ve known for years, like Troy Taylor and J. White, and we continue to push each other musically and raise the bar with every collaboration. I’m excited for people to hear this next chapter when the EP comes out this fall.”
Walter Thomas, executive vp, Motown Gospel & TAMLA Records/Universal Music Group/Capitol CMG added, “Koryn is the kind of artist you root for: incredibly gifted, deeply grounded and clear about the message she wants to carry. What has always stood out to us is her ability to meet people where they are and make music that feels both personal and uplifting. We’re proud to welcome her to Motown Gospel and excited to help support everything she is building in this next season.”
Brad O’Donnell, president at Capitol Christian Music Group, said in a statement, “Koryn Hawthorne is one of the most compelling and distinctive voices in Gospel music and we’re thrilled to welcome her to Motown Gospel and CCMG. She’s an artist with vision, purpose and a deep connection to her fans and that is exactly the kind of artist we love to work with. We’re honored to partner with her in this next chapter of her career.”
