Perez Hilton is being supported by his loved ones during his hospitalization.
One day after the blogger appeared to engage in self-harm during a TikTok livestream, his family released a statement addressing public concerns over Hilton, sharing, that they "are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers."
"We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our familyâs focus right now is on his well-being," an Aug. 5 statement posted on Hilton's website read. "We kindly ask that you respect Perezâs privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time."
Hiltonâs family, which includes his three young children, continued in the message, "If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can. Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support."
Police were dispatched to Hilton's Miami home on the night of Aug. 4 after he went on a livestreamâwhich has since been deletedâappeared to be covered in blood while holding what seemed to be a knife.Â
"The Miami-Dade Sheriffâs Office received multiple calls regarding an individual who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media," authorities told E! News. "Deputies quickly located the individualâs residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside."
Police said they eventually were able to make contact with the person, later confirmed to be Hilton, noting that they had "been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention."
The media personalityâs rep subsequently made public plea to respect the 48-year-old's privacy.
"Our focus remains on Perezâs health, recovery and the privacy of both him and his family during this incredibly difficult time," Hiltonâs agent Dante Rusciolelli told Us Weekly Aug. 5. âWe respectfully ask that everyone continue to honor his privacy while he receives the care he needs.â
