Phoebe Bridgers has cancelled a run of U.K. performances due to a bout of appendicitis.

Confirming the news on her Instagram stories, the California-born singer-songwriter said that a number of intimate shows booked for this week would no longer go ahead. The run of gigs coincided with the release of her third solo LP Lost Weekend, which came out last Friday (Aug. 14).

“I got appendicitis for my birthday,” she wrote on her Instagram Story, which featured a picture of her in a hospital bed. “Everything in the UK this week will have to move but I’ll make it up to you!!!!”

Bridgers was due to perform in Kingston, London on Wednesday (Aug. 19), before heading to Brighton (Aug. 20) and concluding the run in Bristol (Aug. 21). Each location was due to receive a matinee and evening performance. The shows were announced with a week’s notice last Wednesday (Aug. 12).

On Monday, she performed two intimate shows at London’s Union Chapel on what was her 32nd birthday. The stripped-back show saw Bridgers perform a slew of new songs, including a debut for LP highlight “Bobby.” In line with Bridgers’ recent performances, no phones, smartwatches, or other recording devices were allowed into the performance and were instead placed in Yondr pouches.

Lost Weekend is currently placed at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart in the latest midweek update, as per the Official Charts Company. It would be Bridgers’ first solo LP to achieve the feat, having done so with supergroup Boygenius’ self-titled 2023 LP, written and performed with Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.

Kingston’s Banquet Records, which was due to host Wednesday’s performance, has said that they are “working closely with her global teams, and will update as soon as we can” in regards to next steps.

Bridgers is due to perform a run of U.K. arena shows this coming fall, culminating in two sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena (Dec. 1-2).
