Streetball star Grayson “The Professor” Boucher’s story is getting the feature film treatment.
Hidden Empire Film Group and its sports division, Hidden Empire Sports Collective, will produce the movie, directed by award-winning filmmaker Deon Taylor (“Traffik,” “Black and Blue,” “The Intruder”).
Taylor, also Hidden Empire’s co-CEO, will produce the film alongside Hidden Empire’s Roxanne Avent Taylor, Jay Lyons, David Nurse, Jason Pamer and Neil Sacker. The screenplay by Brad Gann (“Invincible,” “Soul Surfer”) folllows as Boucher, then an undersized, unknown college basketball player from Keizer, Oregon walks into an open tryout with the world’s greatest streetball players.
Boucher won a spot on the highly stylized, international AND1 Mixtape Tour, and played in more than 50 countries. He was dubbed “The Professor” for his talent in “schooling” players on the court. But what makes Boucher unique is how he ultimately leveraged his achievements on the court into a venerable digital brand to showcase streetball for a new generation; as a sports influencer, Boucher has more than 25 million followers and more than 5 billion organic views. He has also appeared in several movies including “Semi-Pro,” “Ball Don’t Lie” and “Hustle.” Earlier this year, Boucher rejoined AND1 in early 2026 to become their brand ambassador and director of talent, bringing his journey with the brand full circle.

News of the project comes after Boucher joined Taylor at the NBA Summer League Film Festival in Las Vegas on Thursday. During the conversation, the pair disucssed the cultural impact and legacy of the AND1 movement, the rise of street basketball as a global sport, and Boucher’s journey from aspiring player to one of the most influential and recognizable figures in basketball entertainment.
“Every generation gets an underdog story that reminds us what’s possible. This is one of those stories,” Taylor said. “Grayson wasn’t supposed to make the team, become a star, or change the game — but he did all three. His journey is about resilience, heart, and earning respect through relentless determination. The film marks the latest project for Hidden Empire Sports, which also recently announced a documentary centered around NFL star Cameron ‘Cam’ Heyward. Deon Taylor directs the film, which will examine Heyward’s relationship with his late father, Craig “Ironhead” Heyward, who also played in the league. Hidden Empire is also behind the vertical micro-drama, “I am Hoop,” a docuseries that explores fatherhood, mentorship and preparation for life through the world of elite youth basketball. NBA champion Trevor Ariza, NBA All-Star Zach Randolph, Boris Kodjoe and Deon Taylor, who is a former professional basketball player, are featured in the project.
