EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed actress, producer, and entrepreneur Emma Roberts for representation.
Roberts has built a television career spanning comedy, drama, and genre series. Her longstanding collaboration with Ryan Murphy includes performances across multiple installments of American Horror Story, including Coven, Freak Show, Apocalypse, 1984, and Delicate. She also led Murphyâs Scream Queens, the series that ran for two seasons on Fox. She is set to return for the upcoming thirteenth installment of FXâs American Horror Story alongside many of the seriesâ returning cast members. Roberts first rose to prominence as the star of Nickelodeonâs Unfabulous.
On the film side, Roberts has appeared in a wide range of projects, including Weâre the Millers, Nerve, Palo Alto, Itâs Kind of a Funny Story, and Nancy Drew. She has also had several streaming hits, including Holidate at Netflix, Space Cadet and About Fate at Amazon, and Maybe I Do at Hulu. She will next be seen in the Mark Williams-directed film Hal and The Technique, from director Brian McGreevy.
Roberts continues to expand her reach both in front of and behind the camera through her production company, Belletrist. The shingle has emerged as a source of literary adaptations and original IP, producing the critically acclaimed hit series Tell Me Lies, which recently concluded its third and final season, and the series First Kill at Netflix.
The companyâs growing slate also includes a straight-to-series order for Calabasas at Netflix, from Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen. The series is inspired by the book If You Lived Here Youâd Be Famous By Now by Via Bleidner. Also in the works is an adaptation of Candace Bushnellâs book One Fifth Avenue at Hulu. The project is a TV reimagining of the film Bride Wars for Peacock, in which Roberts is also attached to star. For film, Belletrist is behind a feature adaptation of the Rebecca Serle novel Expiration Dates at Amazon/MGM, with Roberts set to star.
It was announced in December that Belletrist struck a first-look deal with Blink49 Studios to develop and produce scripted television projects based around Belletristâs literary-focused strategy.
Roberts continues to be represented by Sweeney Entertainment, Shelter PR and attorney JR McGinnis.
