The drummer, who is set to release his new documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear on Hulu and Disney+ on August 13, was speaking during a new interview with The New York Timesâ Popcast.Â
When asked about what he was currently working on, Barker said: âIâm starting a couple of other projects, like producing projects, working on the next Blink album.â
When he was then asked whether the band were working on the record this year or in 2027, he added: âWorking on the Blink album this year.â Barker also revealed that he is producing and playing drums on the next Alkaline Trio album.
Blink-182âs last album was 2023âs âOne More TimeâŚâ, which was their first record in over a decade with the original trio of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Barker. Their last major tour was the âMissionary Impossibleâ tour last year.
The band recently released a 20th anniversary reissue of their 2001 album âTake Off Your Pants And Jacketâ, which featured six bonus tracks.
Meanwhile, Louder Than Fear recently had its world premiere at Spring Studios in New York, as part of this yearâs Tribeca Festival.
Directed by Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer, the doc explores the Blink-182 drummerâs life and career, the 2008 plane crash that almost claimed his life, and the âraw and redemptive journeyâ he embarked on afterwards.
The drummer suffered third-degree burns on 65 per cent of his body and spent three months in hospital for 26 surgeries after the accident. He previously said that the subsequent anxiety and depression was so great that he âoffered a friend $1milllion to kill himâ.
Elsewhere last year, Mark Hoppus spoke to NME about his emotional memoir Fahrenheit-182, and also opened up about how the band have grown since forming the band in the early â90s.
âWhen we started Blink, our biggest goal in the whole world was to sell out a small club in San Diego called Soma. The big time of playing the big room there was 1,200 people. When we sold out that room in 1995, I thought weâd made it by playing the biggest punk rock club in our hometown. What else is there?,â the bassist explained.
âThen you go on and get signed to a label, then a major label, then you have your song on the radio, then youâre playing larger venues. Last year, we were selling out stadiums in Los Angeles, Boston and New York. Iâm like, âHoly hell, this is our band that we started in Tomâs garageâ.â
