EXCLUSIVE: Alec Baldwin has been set to join Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, and Zazie Beetz in Kockroach, the New York crime pic from director Matt Ross (Captain Fantastic). Pic is produced by Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) and Christina Weiss Lurie (Persuasion). John Friedberg of Black Bear and Vanessa Humphrey of Mad Chance are the executive producers.

Based on the William Lashner novel, Kockroach is the story of a mysterious stranger who takes on New York’s criminal underworld, transforming himself into a larger-than-life crime boss in a city where power is everything. Ross will direct from a screenplay by Jonathan Ames (You Were Never Really Here) with revisions by Ross.

Filming begins in April. Black Bear is selling international rights, alongside CAA Media Finance and Range Select co-repping domestic.

Baldwin is coming off the film Rust. He’s repped by UTA and managed by Matt DelPiano.
