Severe Storms Wreak Havoc on Bonnaroo Again This Year

Weather-related delays, evacuations, and logistical issues bombarded the final day of the 2026 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Tennessee.

Bonnaroo 2026 was hit with inclement weather on its final day, echoing the weather-related issues that beset the 2025 edition of the Tennessee music and arts festival. Event organizers announced a weather-related delay and an evacuation that lasted for several hours, starting in the afternoon.

On Sunday, June 14, festival organizers posted on Facebook just before 2 PM that performances had been postponed due to the onset of storms in the Coffee County area. Then, just before 2:15 PM, organizers announced the evacuation of Centeroo as a safety measure, as the extreme weather was expected to continue for the next couple of hours.

“If you do not have a vehicle for shelter, lean on your fellow Bonnaroovians,” wrote the organizers. “Please find a friend to take shelter with.”

At 2:29 PM, organizers announced on X (Twitter) that all Sunday day “parking lots, rideshare drop-off, and the box office are currently closed due to severe weather in the area. We’ll update you when we are able to re-open and welcome you to The Farm.”

Then, the Manchester Police Department announced that all traffic inbound to Bonnaroo was stopped due to the weather—specifically, increasing concerns surrounding the lightning. Around 15 minutes later, the festival confirmed that Centeroo was closed due to the severe weather.

A little over an hour later, event officials said the National Weather Service estimated that the inclement weather would pass in the next 90 minutes. Less than 30 minutes later, the festival announced that while the severe weather had passed, Centeroo remained closed while organizers prepared to reopen and finalize the new performance schedule.

Finally, after 4:45 PM, organizers shared the updated set times for the rest of Sunday’s performances, with Centeroo reopening about half an hour later. While some fans expressed confusion around the new schedule and noted some livestream delays, Bonnaroo 2026 was a success amid the delays (and the mud).
