Dakota Johnson didn’t disappear on Role Model when the wine ran out.
Six months after the duo first sparked romance rumors by stepping out hand-in-hand in January, the “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” singer confirmed to Nylon in an interview Aug. 4 they are in a relationship.
What’s more, Role Model (real name Tucker Pilsbury) detailed Johnson’s new feature on his upcoming song “Love I You,” which he performed for the first time during an intimate show in Chicago July 30.
“I had a lot of names to pick from that,” Role Model admitted, noting that his guitarist and producer Mason Stoops played a role in making it happen. “Dakota came to the studio one day and Mason was like, ‘Why don’t you do it?’”
Considering the “Blind” singer is trying to keep his romance with the Materialists actress low-key, he recalled, “I was like, ‘Stop! We’re not mixing work and relationships.’”
“She was like, ‘I’ll do it,’ and stood right up and got in the booth and knocked it out better than we could have imagined,” the 29-year-old continued. “So I was like, ‘OK, if she’s down—I mean, that’s an amazing cameo.’”
Indeed, the cameo on the track—which will be included in Role Model’s upcoming album Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, out Aug. 7—was revealed to be especially flirtatious as seen in videos on social media.
“Hey, I think you’re perfect,” Role Model sings during the bridge, to which Johnson quips back, “You say that to everyone.”
As the song continues, Role Model sings about having money, to which Johnson teases back, “Oh you think you’re big time?”
And when the singer notes he was “just being funny,” the 36-year-old answers, “Oh you’re Mr. Big Night.”
Role Model and Johnson—who previously dated Coldplay singer Chris Martin for seven years—have had some big nights in Los Angeles together since their first public date night in January.
In April, the pair packed on the PDA while leaving Little Dom's restaurant in Los Feliz one night, and a month earlier were attached at the hip as they attended Paul McCartney’s farewell tour at Fonda Theatre.
But while Role Model—who was previously linked to Emma Chamberlain—isn’t keeping his romance with Johnson a secret, don’t get any high hopes 3000 that he’ll reveal any intimate details.
“Keeping things about music is what I’ve learned,” he added to Nylon. “Otherwise, the internet just has a field day.”
