Out in Hollywood today announced its annual Out Loud List of the best un-produced, queer-focused pilot scripts from the past year, to be celebrated at a special reception in Los Angeles hosted by Jeff & Maridette Greenberg and sponsored by Writ Large.
âThe distinct voices exploring the queer spectrum have never mattered more and they deserve to be heard,â said Logan Kriete, on behalf of the Out in Hollywood board. âThese pilots arenât just a celebration of who we are, theyâre a force for change, a demand for empathy, and proof that queer stories move every audience. This yearâs storytellers reflect the full range of queer imagination, and they make clear what we have always known: when queer writers are given the space to tell stories freely, they donât just add to the culture, they push it forward.â
Each script was nominated by queer professionals in the entertainment community and then evaluated through a blind review process led by Out Loud Hollywoodâs founding board as well as a guest panel of queer producers and executives. Submissions are evaluated on a number of criteria and a queer storytelling lens adapted from GLAADâs Vito-Russo Test.
This yearâs list covers a range of genres, including sci-fi, crime, thriller, coming-of-age, comedy, and drama.
