Jamie Foxx shows off his dance moves and jokes about aging in the trailer for “Take Care of Yourself,” his new comedy special debuting on Hulu on Oct. 7.
The stand-up hour finds the veteran comic in “his most honest, evolved, and unforgettable chapter yet,” according to the streamer.
“I live in an all-white neighborhood, and a real gangbanger walked up on me,” Foxx says in the trailer. “I said, ‘How did you get in here?’ My white friends didn’t know what was going [on]: ‘Is this your cousin?’ No, this is danger!”
“Take Care of Yourself,” which borrows its title from one of Foxx’s punchlines about getting older, is the singer-actor-comedian’s second stand-up special since his medical emergency in 2023, when he suffered a severe brain bleed that led to a stroke. In his 2024 special for Netflix, “What Had Happened Was…,” Foxx triumphantly walked onstage and declared “I’m back!” before addressing the online speculation surrounding his health.
“Take Care of Yourself” is Foxx’s fifth stand-up special across three decades. His first hour, “Straight From the Foxxhole,” debuted in 1993, and then he put out “I Might Need Security” in 2002 followed by “Jamie Foxx Unleashed: Lost, Stolen and Leaked!” in 2003.
The new special is billed as part of Hulu’s “Hularious” comedy slate, which also includes hours from Bill Burr, Chris Distefano, Jim Gaffigan, Zarna Garg, Nikki Glaser, Ilana Glazer, Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Sebastian Maniscalco, Kumail Nanjiani, Hannah Berner, Ralph Barbosa, Atsuko Okatsuka, Frankie Quiñones, Andrew Santino and Roy Wood Jr.
