Luann de Lesseps wants Jennifer Lopez to know that she understands she’s “Jenny From the Block,” not “from the ‘hood.” The former Real Housewives of New York City star mixed up the lyrics to J.Lo’s 2002 hit during a recent episode of the Bravo spin-off The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.
During a confessional following a conversation about whether she should be referred to as “Countess” or “Lu,” given her former marriage to French count Alexandre de Lesseps, Luann responded, “I’m really just Lu from Connecticut. … Like J.Lo is from … the ‘hood?”
A producer, apparently noticing the mistake, corrected her: “Um, ‘From the Block’?” Luann said apologetically: “Oh, sorry!”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the reality star admitted she had forgotten the song’s original lyrics.
“I couldn’t think! Because, let me tell you, I lived for many years in Europe during the ’90s and 2000s,” she said, confirming that she definitely knew Lopez’s nickname. “Of course I know ‘Jenny From the Block,’ but I forgot. So I said ‘the ‘hood.’ I’m a little embarrassed. I hope J.Lo is not upset with me, because I love her.”
“Jenny From the Block” became one of Lopez’s most emblematic songs, earning her the nickname Jenny From the Block and marking a new era of pop stardom for the singer. Released in 2002, “Jenny From the Block” peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track came out during Lopez’s high-profile relationship with — and first engagement to — actor Ben Affleck, who appears in the track’s paparazzi-inspired music video.
